EFTPS

The electronic federal tax payment system (EFTPS) is a tax payment system which is provided free by the US department of treasury. Businesses and individuals can pay your federal taxes electronically via the internet or on phone 24/7. More than 9.5 million taxpayers are currently enrolled in the system. Since EFTPS started in 1996, there have been over 1 billion electronic payments made, totaling over $22.8 trillion. The service has been used by businesses, individuals, deferral agencies, tax professionals and payroll services.

 

All federal taxes can be paid using EFTPS. You can make payments via www.eftps.gov, a voice response system, or special channels designed for tax professionals, payroll services, and financial institutions. EFTPS is quick, secure, and accurate and is available by phone or online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can schedule a business payment up to 120 days in advance or an individual payment up to 365 days in advance.

 

Here's how it works:

 

STEP 1: Enroll online. To get started, you will need the following:
  • Taxpayer Identification Number (your Employer Identification Number if you're enrolling as a business or your Social Security Number if you're enrolling as an individual).
  • Banking account number and routing number.
  • Address and name as they appear on your IRS tax documents.

 

Then, simply follow these instructions:

 

  • Select "Enrollment."
  • Select "Business," or "Individual," or "Federal Agency."
  • Enter the requested information..
Submit. In seven business days, you will receive your PIN in the mail.

 

STEP 2: Once you get your password.
  • Go to EFTPS.gov and click on "Log In."
  • Click on "Need a Password." Enter your EIN or SSN and your PIN
  • Verify your banking information or your EFTPS enrollment number (which appears on your PIN letter or was given to you when you activated your enrollment via phone) and select "Next."

 

Create your new Internet password.

STEP 3: Make your payment
  • Go to www.eftps.gov and select "Make a Payment."
  • Select "Log In" again and use your EIN, PIN, and the password you just set. Enter the payment information in the step-by-step screens.

 

When you're finished, save a copy of the Payment Confirmation page. This contains your EFT Acknowledgment Number that acts as a receipt for your payment instruction.

EFTPS is one of the ways through which you can make your tax payment to the IRS at Greentax2290.com. If you choose to make the payment through EFTPS, make sure you schedule your payment a day before the taxes are due. EFTPS is secure, fast, convenient and easy to use.

 

The current period begins on July 1, 2017, and ends June 30, 2018. Form 2290 should be filed for the month when the taxable vehicle is first used on the highway. The filing rules apply whether you are paying the tax or reporting suspension of the tax.
